On July 17, Jin10 reported that UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Reeves announced the establishment of an infrastructure partnership with the South African government, aimed at attracting more investment for the continent's largest economy. This cooperation protocol was signed in the South African port city of Durban during the G20 summit, with the core objective of accelerating the advancement of significant infrastructure projects in South Africa—where a large backlog of projects has hindered economic growth. Reeves stated that under the cooperation protocol, the UK would provide technical support to South Africa to help it compile a list of investable projects. She mentioned that a similar cooperation project between the UK and Peru could serve as a model for this collaboration.
