Singapore requires unlicensed crypto businesses to cease offshore services.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore has required local cryptocurrency companies with a physical presence but without a license to cease offering offshore services by June 30. This move could affect hundreds of jobs, and some exchanges are considering relocating employees to other regions. The new regulations involve only a small number of companies and are a continuation of relevant laws from 2022.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore clarifies the scope of the digital token service provider regime.

Starting from June 30, 2025, providers offering services related to digital payment tokens and capital market product tokens exclusively for overseas clients must obtain a license. Those without a license will cease regulated activities. Providers serving local clients are already under existing regulation, and their scope of business remains unchanged.

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group plans to launch futures contracts priced according to spot quotes on June 30, covering Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the four major U.S. stock indices. Investors can hold the contracts for up to five years without the need for rollover.
